A published temperature range is only a screening value. Actual service life changes with fluid concentration, pressure, time at temperature, flange surface finish, compression ratio, and installation method.

Match The Sealing Ring To The Flange And Service Condition
Pipe Flanges & Piping Pipeline flanges, manhole covers, tank nozzles and pipe joints. Confirm pressure rating, flange standard (ANSI/DIN/JIS) and gasket thickness.
Pumps and Valves Pump housings, valve bonnets, body gaskets and end covers. Match the fluid type, temperature and pressure cycle to the right material.
Automotive Oil pans, valve covers, intake manifolds and transmission housings. Check oil/fuel compatibility and temperature cycling requirements.
Bolted Connections Fastener sealing, vibration damping and load distribution for mechanical assemblies. Choose hardness and thickness based on bolt size and torque.

Size Alone Is Not Enough
ID × cross section identifies the basic part. It does not confirm material, hardness, pressure capability, dynamic suitability, or chemical resistance.
For an existing assembly, send the groove dimensions and failure condition. A flattened, swollen, cracked, hardened, cut, or extruded O-ring points to different corrections.

Control the Drawing, Compound and Inspection Method
Standard sizes can follow AS568, ISO 3601, metric or inch dimensions. Non-standard O-rings can be developed from a drawing, groove specification or sample. For repeat orders, keep the approved compound, drawing revision, hardness, tolerance, inspection method and packaging label under the same order record.

What's The Difference Between A Rubber Washer And A Flat Sealing Ring?
Rubber washers are typically thinner and used under bolt heads for sealing, vibration damping and load distribution. Flat sealing rings are thicker and designed for flange face sealing between two mating surfaces. The choice depends on your application, pressure and installation space.
What Dimensions Are Required For A Sealing Ring Quotation?
Send the inside diameter (ID), outside diameter (OD) and thickness. For flange applications, include the flange standard (ANSI/DIN/JIS), pressure class and bolt hole pattern. A drawing or sample photo is always helpful.
How Do I Choose The Right Sealing Ring Material?
Start with the fluid type, temperature range and pressure rating. NBR works for general oil and grease service, FKM for high temperature and aggressive chemicals, EPDM for water and outdoor use, and silicone for food-grade and wide-temperature applications.

What Thickness Should I Choose For My Sealing Ring?
Thickness depends on flange gap, pressure rating and compression ratio. Common thicknesses are 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm and 5mm. Higher pressure applications generally require thicker gaskets with higher hardness. Send your flange dimensions for a thickness recommendation.
