Rubber Gasket

STANDARD AND CUSTOM GASKET RINGS

Select The Right Gasket Material For Your Application

Rubber gasket rings are used for static sealing in pipe flanges, pump housings, valve bodies, automotive engines, food processing equipment, and general industrial machinery. Material options include NBR, FKM, EPDM, silicone, CR, HNBR, and application-specific compounds.

Start with the fluid type, continuous and peak temperature, pressure rating, and flange design. Then confirm the inside diameter, outside diameter, thickness, hardness, tolerance, and compliance requirements. Gasket dimensions are defined by the flange standard or your drawing.

Material Comparison: NBR vs FKM

Choose NBR: Your application involves general oil/grease service, temperatures under 100°C, and cost is a priority

Choose FKM: You need high temperature resistance, aggressive chemical resistance, or long-term reliability in harsh environments

NBR Gasket Rings FKM Gasket Rings
Hydraulic & pneumatic systems Oil & gas wellhead equipment
Automotive oil pans & transmissions Chemical processing pumps & valves
Industrial pumps & valves Semiconductor manufacturing equipment
General pipe flanges Aerospace & aircraft systems
Lubrication systems High-temperature automotive
Fuel systems (general) Heavy-duty diesel engines

A published material specification is only a general reference value. Actual service performance and life vary with operating fluid, concentration, temperature, pressure, compression ratio, flange surface finish, and installation method.

APPLICATIONS

Match The Gasket To The Flange And Service Condition

Pipe Flanges & Piping Pipeline flanges, manhole covers, tank nozzles and pipe joints. Confirm pressure rating, flange standard (ANSI/JIS/DIN) and gasket thickness.
Pumps and Valves Pump housings, valve bonnets, body gaskets and end covers. Match the fluid type, temperature and pressure cycle to the right material.
Automotive Engines Oil pans, valve covers, intake manifolds and transmission housings. Check oil/fuel compatibility and temperature cycling requirements.
Hydraulic Systems Cylinder end caps, manifold blocks, hydraulic power units and fittings. Verify fluid type, pressure rating and extrusion gap.
Chemical Processing Reactors, heat exchangers, storage tanks and process piping. Send the exact chemical name, concentration and operating temperature.
Food & Beverage Sanitary piping, filling machines, brewery equipment and dairy processing. Confirm food-grade certification (FDA/3A) and CIP compatibility.

Information Needed for Material Review and Quotation

1. Working fluid or chemical name
2. Fluid concentration
3. Continuous and peak temperature
4. Working and test pressure
5. Static, reciprocating or rotary use
6. Inside diameter and cross section
7. Groove drawing or equipment drawing
8. Hardness and tolerance
9. Approval or compliance requirement
10. Order quantity and annual demand
Size Alone Is Not Enough

ID × cross section identifies the basic part. It does not confirm material, hardness, pressure capability, dynamic suitability, or chemical resistance.

For an existing assembly, send the groove dimensions and failure condition. A flattened, swollen, cracked, hardened, cut, or extruded Gasket ring points to different corrections.

STANDARD AND CUSTOM SUPPLY

Control the Drawing, Compound and Inspection Method

Standard sizes conform to ANSI B16.21, DIN, JIS, and other flange matching specifications. Non-standard gaskets can be developed based on drawings, flange dimensions, or samples. For repeat orders, the confirmed rubber compound formula, drawing version, hardness, tolerances, inspection methods, and packaging labeling requirements are all locked within the same order file.

Inspection Based on Project Risk Typical controls include compound confirmation, hardness, ID, OD, cross section, surface condition, flash, packaging and batch consistency. Critical parts may require additional validation agreed before production.

Approval Before Repeat Production Samples should be approved against the drawing and actual operating conditions. A color match or visual comparison cannot replace compound and dimensional confirmation.

Compliance Must Match the Exact Compound

A certificate does not automatically cover every EPDM, silicone or NBR compound. Confirm the certificate holder, compound reference, hardness, color, intended contact condition and validity before placing a regulated order.

FAQ

Gasket Ordering Questions

How Do I Choose The Right Gasket Material?

Start with the fluid type, temperature range and pressure rating. NBR works for general oil and grease service, FKM for high temperature and aggressive chemicals, EPDM for water and outdoor use, and silicone for food-grade and wide-temperature applications. Send your application details for material recommendation.

What Dimensions Are Required For A Gasket Quotation?

Send the inside diameter (ID), outside diameter (OD) and thickness. For flange gaskets, include the flange standard (ANSI/DIN/JIS), pressure class and bolt hole pattern. A drawing or sample photo is always helpful.

What's The Difference Between Full-Face And Ring-Type Gaskets?

Full-face gaskets cover the entire flange face including bolt holes, used for lower pressure and flat face flanges. Ring-type (inner bolt circle) gaskets sit inside the bolt circle, used for higher pressure and raised face flanges. Choose based on your flange design.

Can You Produce Gaskets From My Drawing Or Sample?

Yes. Non-standard gaskets can be produced from confirmed drawings, flange specifications or approved samples. For sample-based orders, we recommend measuring multiple points and verifying the material type to avoid copying a worn or damaged dimension.

How Do I Know If My Gasket Is Failing?

Common signs include fluid leakage at the flange joint, gasket extrusion into the gap, hardening or cracking from heat aging, and swelling or softening from chemical attack. Check the compression set, surface condition and material changes during maintenance.

Send the Operating Conditions Before Requesting a Price

Include the fluid, temperature, pressure, motion, O-ring size or drawing, hardness, compliance requirement and order quantity. Clear application data reduces material changes, sample revisions and repeated quotation work.
