Are there environmental requirements for storing O-rings?

Everyone is familiar with O-rings. O-rings are indispensable in many equipment. So do you know what are the environmental requirements for storing O-rings? O-rings are affected by various external environmental factors, such as: distortion, O-rings may fail due to changes in physical and chemical properties due to the influence of oxygen, ozone, light, heat, moisture, oil, or chemical solvents. Here's a brief introduction.

O-ring storage temperature: 5-25 ℃ is an ideal storage temperature. Avoid exposure to heat and sunlight. Seals taken out from low temperature storage should be placed in an environment of 20°C before use.


O-ring storage humidity: The relative humidity of the warehouse should be less than 70%, avoid too humid or too dry, and no condensation.

Lighting: Avoid sunlight and strong artificial light sources containing ultraviolet light. UV-resistant bags provide optimum protection. Red or orange paint or film is recommended for warehouse windows.

Oxygen and Ozone: Rubber materials should avoid exposure to circulating air. This can be accomplished by packaging, wrapping, storing in an air-tight container, or other suitable methods. Ozone is harmful to most elastomers. Avoid the following equipment in the warehouse: mercury vapor lamps, high-voltage electrical equipment, motors and other equipment.

O-RING STORAGE Contact with metallic or non-metallic materials: Contact with magnetic materials, cast iron, copper and its alloys, or materials that can damage rubber is not permitted. Seals should not be packaged with PVC material. Seals of different materials cannot be mixed.

O-ring storage cleaning: As needed, the seals can be cleaned with soap and water. But water should not touch the fiber reinforced seal
